Flight Numbers

11Speed
4Glide
0Turn
2.5Fade

Dynamic Discs' hybrid distance driver — the bridge between fairway and distance. The Sergeant doesn't turn, finishes with a clean forward fade, and feels like a fairway driver in the hand despite carrying 11-speed distance. Think of it as a faster Getaway or a slower Raider.

Why Throw the Sergeant?

🌉

Bridges Fairway and Distance

The 11-speed rim is narrow enough to feel like a fairway driver but fast enough to reach distance driver territory. If your 9-speeds aren't getting there and your 12–13 speeds are too much, the Sergeant fills the gap perfectly.

🔒

Zero Turn, Reliable Fade

With 0 turn and 2.5 fade, the Sergeant doesn't flip on you. It goes where you put it and finishes left with a forward-pushing fade — not a violent dump. That predictability is why it stays in bags across all skill levels.

🤚

Comfortable for Forehand & Backhand

The rim profile sits in a sweet spot — wide enough for distance, narrow enough for clean forehand releases. Many sidearm throwers find the Sergeant easier to grip than wider 12 and 13-speed rims.

🌬️

Wind Reliable

Zero turn means the Sergeant holds up in headwinds without turning over. It's not a meathook, but it fights wind honestly and finishes on time. A dependable choice when conditions pick up.

🎯

Placement Over Bombs

The lower glide of 4 keeps the Sergeant from floating unpredictably. It pushes forward and sits down — less carry than high-glide bombers, but more control. This is a placement driver, not a max distance disc.

🔄

Great for Cycling

Lucid Sergeants start overstable and beat into workable, straight-flying drivers over time. Advanced players carry multiple Sergeants in different stages of wear to cover a full range of stable-to-straight lines at 11 speed.

Plastics

Popular

Lucid

Premium • Translucent • Most Durable

DD's flagship premium blend — translucent, stiff, and built to hold stability through heavy use. Lucid Sergeants fly slightly more overstable than Fuzion and take the longest to beat in. The go-to for wind and forehand reliability.

Fuzion

Premium • Opaque • Grippier

Same durability as Lucid with a softer, grippier feel. Fuzion Sergeants tend to fly a touch less overstable, making them more workable for shaping lines. A great all-conditions choice, especially in cold weather.

Prime

Baseline • Budget • Great Grip

DD's baseline plastic with excellent grip at an affordable price. Prime Sergeants beat in faster than premium blends — they'll start stable and season into a straighter flyer over time. A good entry point for the mold.

Lucid Air

Lightweight • Premium • Easy Distance

Lucid durability in a lighter weight (typically 150–160g). Lucid Air Sergeants are easier to get up to speed for slower arms, adding carry and reducing the overstable fade. A good option for beginners or players who want easier distance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dynamic Discs describes the Sergeant as a "slower Raider." The Raider (13/5/-0.5/3) is faster with a wider rim, a touch of turn, and more fade. The Sergeant (11/4/0/2.5) has zero turn, a narrower rim, and a softer finish. If the Raider is too much disc for you — too fast, too wide, or too overstable — the Sergeant gives you a similar flight shape in a more manageable package.
Technically a distance driver at speed 11, but it plays like a hybrid. The rim width sits between typical fairway drivers (speed 7–9) and true distance drivers (speed 12–14). Many players describe it as a fairway driver with extra reach. If you're comfortable with a Thunderbird or Firebird, the Sergeant rim won't feel like a jump.
Players throwing 300+ feet will see the full flight. Below that, the 0 turn and 2.5 fade may dump it left before it reaches full potential. Lucid Air in lighter weights opens the Sergeant up to 250–275 foot arms. If you can throw a Thunderbird well, you can step up to the Sergeant.
The lower glide is by design. It keeps the Sergeant from floating and drifting in wind — the disc pushes forward and sits down instead of carrying unpredictably. The trade-off is less free distance, but more control and placement accuracy. If you want more carry at this speed, the Scorch (11/6/-2/2) or Insanity (11/5/-2/1.5) offer higher glide with understable turn.
Lucid is stiffer, more translucent, and flies slightly more overstable. It holds stability the longest and is preferred for wind and forehands. Fuzion is softer, grippier, and a touch less overstable — better for shaping backhand lines and cold weather grip. Most players start with Lucid for reliability and add Fuzion when they want a more workable Sergeant.
Absolutely. The 0 turn and moderate fade make it a natural forehand disc. The narrower rim (compared to 12–13 speed drivers) is comfortable for sidearm grip, and it handles torque cleanly. Many players who struggle with forehand distance drivers find the Sergeant much easier to control.
Controlled distance drives where you need the disc to finish left without dumping. Headwind approaches. Forehand placement shots. Hyzer lines through gaps. Long dogleg lefts. Any shot where you want 300–375 feet of distance with zero chance of the disc turning over on you.
