Westside Discs Hatchet

Westside Discs Hatchet is an understable control driver built to make distance feel easy. It has fairway-like control with driver-like carry. It’s the kind of disc you reach for when you want a long flight without forcing extra power.

Thrown flat, the Hatchet wants to glide forward and drift right late for many backhand players. That drift is smooth, not jumpy. It helps you shape long turnovers that stay in the air. It also helps you hit right-moving fairways without muscling an anhyzer.

Give it a touch of hyzer and it becomes a clean hyzer-flip driver. It stands up, rides straight, and finishes gently. That makes it great for tight gaps and low ceilings. You get a “frozen rope” look without a big left finish.

Arm speed changes how the Hatchet behaves. With slower arms, it can fly neutral and very controllable. With faster arms, it becomes more understable and more workable. That’s why it fits beginners and experienced players.

The Westside Discs Hatchet is also a sneaky roller disc. It flips up fast and wants to keep moving. It’s useful for long escape shots and late-turning rollers. If your course demands right movement, it earns its slot quickly.

One extra perk is how it pairs with Westside’s Underworld. They share a familiar feel in hand, but the Hatchet is faster and a bit more stable. If an Underworld feels too touchy, Hatchet is often the cleaner step up.

Flight: 9 | 6 | −2 | 1. High glide with workable turn and a soft finish for long hyzer-flips, turnovers, and rollers. Official Hatchet overview

Why throw the Hatchet?

  • Easy hyzer-flips that stay straight for a long time.
  • Smooth turnovers that don’t crash out early.
  • Big glide for distance on controlled fairway lines.
  • Roller potential without needing extreme angles.
  • Beginner-friendly flight that still scales with power.

FAQs

Hatchet vs Underworld: which one should I bag?

Choose Underworld if you want a slower, very understable fairway. Choose Hatchet when you want the same right-movement idea with more speed and carry.

Is the Westside Discs Hatchet a good roller disc?

Yes. The Hatchet is known for controlled rollers. It flips up easily and stays moving without needing a violent cut angle.

How do I throw a Hatchet hyzer-flip without turning it into the ground?

Start with a small hyzer and smooth power. Keep the nose down and focus on spin. If it burns over, add hyzer or disc up in stability.

VIP Air vs VIP vs VIP Ice: which Hatchet is more stable?

VIP Air is usually the easiest to flip because of lighter weights. VIP is the most “true” baseline flight in premium. VIP Ice style runs often feel firmer and can fly more resistant to turn.

Hatchet vs Sidewinder: what’s the difference?

They live in the same control-driver family. The Hatchet often feels a bit more “fairway-like” in hand with a very smooth drift. Pick the one that matches your preferred rim feel and release.
