The Axiom Pyro is a torque-proof, wind-fighting midrange that slots between your workable Reactor and your meat-hook MVP Deflector. With flight numbers of 5 / 4 / 0 / 2.5, it holds flat lasers under power, shrugs off headwinds, and finishes with a reliable, forward-pushing fade. If you like to lean on forehands or rip backhand flex lines without watching your mid flip, the Pyro is the trustworthy “control beef” you keep reaching for.
Where many overstable mids dump early, the Pyro’s glide (4) lets it push down the fairway before it checks up. Throw it flat and expect a straight mid‑flight that ends with a strong, predictable skip. Put it on anhyzer and it will fight out every time, giving you those dependable flex shots that land pin‑high. Into a headwind, the 0 turn rating keeps the Pyro from drifting right (RHBH), so your line choice—not the gusts—decides the result.
Forehand players love the shallow, beadless rim and Gyro overmold stability. The disc accepts plenty of wrist torque without burning over, making 250–320 ft touch flicks easy to aim. Backhand throwers get the same benefit: hammer it flat for a straight push and late bite, or power a spike hyzer that dives and sticks near the pin. Utility? The Pyro excels at forced overhands, skip-approach landings, and “get out of jail” scramble shots where you must guarantee a finish.
Axiom often molds the Pyro in premium Prism blends—clear, candy-like rims wrapped around durable Neutron or Proton cores—so it keeps its stability for seasons. Standard Neutron runs give you a touch more grip and beat into a slightly straighter flyer over time. However you spec it, the Pyro remains the midrange you trust when the round is on the line and the wind starts howling.

Available Plastics
Need an in‑depth look at MVP/Axiom blends? See the full plastics guide here.
- Prism Neutron: Durable Neutron core with a stiff, translucent rim; holds OS flight the longest.
- Prism Proton: Proton core + Prism rim; the firmest, most torque‑resistant feel.
- Neutron: Grippy, premium baseline for the mold—beats into a touch straighter flight over time.
- Special runs (SEs): Limited artwork and swirly blends; flight typically matches the base plastic listed.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Axiom Pyro?
An overstable 5‑speed midrange made for headwinds, forehands, and reliable hyzer finishes.
What are the Pyro flight numbers?
5 / 4 / 0 / 2.5—straight under power with a strong, dependable fade.
Is the Pyro good for forehand approaches?
Yes. Its shallow rim and beefy fade make 250–320 ft touch flicks very consistent.
Pyro vs. Reactor—what’s the difference?
The Reactor is neutral-to-stable and more workable; the Pyro is notably more overstable and wind‑resistant.
Axiom Pyro vs. MVP Deflector—how do they compare?
The Deflector is even more overstable (think 5/3/0/4). The Pyro flies farther and straighter before fading.
Which plastic keeps the Pyro most overstable?
Prism Neutron and Prism Proton retain the beef the longest thanks to their very durable rims.

Disc was delivered in perfect shape and looks exactly as pictured! Thank you guys so much! I will definitely be ordering again!
This is a great disc for bending around trees and tight lines really good for forehand turnover shots as well as Anheuser flex shots plus it’s pretty would definitely recommend people that are looking for a mid range that can do pretty much anything
I own a 173 gram Neutron Prism Pyro and 175 gram Proton Prism Pyro. The Proton Pyro has a bit more fade..close to 3. This disc knocked Roc3 out of my bag. I works great in headwinds and I love it for forehands. It’s my go to overstable mid.
