Flight Numbers

11Speed
5Glide
-1Turn
3Fade

Axiom's line-locking distance driver with GYRO® overmold. The Defy pushes straight at high speed, resists turning over under power, and finishes with a strong, reliable fade — a more stable Photon or a longer Clash.

Why Throw the Defy?

🔒

Line-Locking Stability

The Defy resists turning over even at full power. Put it on a line and it stays there — no surprises, no late flip, just a controlled push followed by a dependable fade. That's the whole personality of this disc.

🌬️

Headwind Confidence

With -1 turn and 3 fade, the Defy holds up in moderate to strong headwinds. It's the 11-speed disc you reach for when conditions get gusty and you still need to trust the finish.

🤚

Forehand and Backhand Reliable

The flat-ish profile and GYRO rim give a clean release on both backhand drives and forehand rips. The Defy handles torque well on sidearm throws without wobbling or flipping over.

📐

Controlled Distance, Not Max Distance

The Defy isn't trying to be a 500-foot bomber — it's built for 350–400 foot drives that land where you planned. Less glide than some 11-speeds means less float and more predictable placement.

💎

GYRO® Rim Stability

Axiom's two-piece overmold concentrates weight in the outer rim for enhanced gyroscopic stability. The result is a cleaner, more consistent flight under power — the disc fights torque better than single-mold drivers.

🌲

Woods-Golf Workhorse

At speed 11 with a 2.2 cm rim, the Defy is fast enough for real distance but controllable enough for placement shots through tight gaps. It responds well to different power inputs — power down and it still finishes on time.

Plastics

Popular

Neutron

Premium • Opaque • Balanced Grip

Axiom's flagship premium blend with high-contrast opaque colors. Neutron Defys fly true to the numbers with excellent durability and grip. The default choice for most GYRO throwers.

Proton

Premium • Translucent • Firm

Stiff, translucent premium with a vivid flight plate and black overmold rim. Proton tends to run slightly more overstable than Neutron and holds its stability the longest.

Plasma

Premium • Metallic Sheen • Semi-Gummy

Gorgeous metallic finish with a semi-gummy flex. Plasma Defys add a touch of dome and grip compared to Neutron, producing slightly more glide while staying reliably overstable.

Fission

Lightweight • Microbubble Core • Extra Carry

Ultralight (typically 150–168g) thanks to MVP's microbubble technology. Fission Defys run 11/5/-1.5/3 — slightly more turn for longer flights and accessible distance at moderate arm speeds.

Eclipse Glow 2.0

Premium • Glow-in-the-Dark • Special Runs

MVP's brightest glow plastic with a firm, slightly more overstable feel. Eclipse Glow Defys are built for night rounds without sacrificing the disc's stability or confidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both sit at 11/5/-1/3, but they feel different in the hand. The Wraith has a slightly wider, more traditional rim, while the Defy's GYRO overmold shifts weight outward for added gyroscopic stability. Many players find the Defy more consistent under torque, while the Wraith may have a touch more glide feel. Try both and see which release you prefer.
The Defy is more stable. MVP describes the Defy as a "more stable Photon" — it resists turn better at high power and finishes with a harder fade. The Photon (11.5/5/-1/2.5) has a touch more workability and is easier to shape. Choose the Defy for line-locking, the Photon for versatility.
Yes. Fission runs are lighter (often 150–168g) with slightly more turn (-1.5 vs -1). That makes them easier to throw for moderate arms and adds extra carry. Fission Defys fly more like a Wraith than the beefy Neutron/Proton versions. It's a great way to access the mold without needing elite arm speed.
If you throw 350–400 feet consistently, the Defy works great as a workhorse driver. It gives you distance with placement — you'll land closer to center than a 12 or 13-speed that you can't fully power. Many intermediate players find an 11-speed like the Defy more effective than throwing a Destroyer they can't control.
In Neutron or Proton at max weight, you'll want to throw 300+ feet to see the full flight. Below that, it'll fade out early. Fission in lighter weights opens the Defy up to 250–300 foot throwers. If the Defy is too beefy, try the Axiom Insanity (11/5/-2/1.5) for a more workable 11-speed.
The GYRO rim is the same dense plastic regardless of color. Some players report that certain rim colors feel slightly stiffer or softer, but this is anecdotal and varies by batch. Durability is comparable to MVP's single-mold discs — the overmold bond holds up well through heavy use.
Controlled distance drives that need to finish reliably. Headwind bombers. Forehand distance lines. Hyzer shots through tight corridors. Flex lines that must come back. Any shot where you need 300–400 feet of distance and zero chance of the disc flipping on you.
