Discraft Cigarra

The Discraft Cigarra is an overstable fairway driver designed in collaboration with Anthony Barela. It is built for controlled power, clean torque resistance, and a dependable fade. The Cigarra is made to push forward on hard throws. It then finishes on time without feeling dumpy.

This mold is often described as a more stable evolution of the Cicada. It keeps that easy carry and comfortable fairway feel. It adds more bite at the end. That makes it easier to trust on forehands and powered-up backhands.

Thrown flat, the Cigarra gives a straight push with a steady, controlled finish. The turn shows up as workable movement, not a sudden drift. It holds its line through the middle of flight. Then the fade closes the door and brings it home.

On hyzer-flips, the Cigarra is money on longer tunnels. Start it on a small hyzer and throw smooth. It stands up, rides forward, and fades late. That is a great shape when you want distance without extra side-to-side risk.

On forehand, the Discraft Cigarra shines as a stand-up control fairway. Keep the nose down and release on slight hyzer. It will pop up, carry, and finish predictably. For flex shots, give it height and let it fight out late.

In calm air, it is a glidey control driver. In light headwinds, it stays more composed than many glide-first fairways. If the wind is stronger, add more hyzer and keep it lower. If you want glide with a reliable finish, this is the slot.

Flight: 7 | 6 | -1 | 2. The Cigarra blends fairway speed, high glide, workable turn, and dependable fade for controlled distance. Official Cigarra overview.

FAQs

Cigarra vs Cicada: what is the real difference?

The Cigarra keeps the glidey fairway feel, but adds more torque resistance and a stronger fade. If your Cicada drifts too much on power or in wind, the Cigarra is the step up.

What is the best “learning line” for the Cigarra off the tee?

Start with a slight hyzer and throw smooth. Let it stand up, ride forward, and finish late. That teaches you the disc’s glide and timing.

Is the Discraft Cigarra good for forehands, or is it mainly a backhand fairway?

It is great for forehands. It resists unwanted turn on clean releases and finishes predictably. Keep the nose down and aim for a stand-up flight.

Which Cigarra plastic is best if I want the most consistent stability?

Z Line is the safest long-term stability choice. Ti Sparkle special runs can also hold stability well. ESP is great when you want more grip and touch.

How does the Cigarra handle light headwinds?

It stays more composed than many glide-first fairways. Add a touch of hyzer and keep the flight lower for the cleanest results.
