Missy Gannon's signature take on the Thrasher. Team Discraft's Co-Captain wanted the Thrasher's glide and hand feel with real wind resistance — so Discraft retooled the mold from -3 turn to 0. The result is a stable-overstable distance driver that holds its line in conditions that flip the original.

Why Throw the Captain's Thrasher?

The Thrasher, Wind-Proofed

Same rim, same glide, same comfortable feel as the original Thrasher — with the -3 turn dialed back to 0. Where the standard Thrasher flips in a breeze, the Captain's version holds its line and finishes on time. It's the Thrasher you can trust in conditions.

🌬️

Headwind Reliable

Zero turn means headwinds don't flip the Captain's Thrasher over. It pushes through gusts with a straight, confident line and a moderate 2 fade at the end. When the wind picks up and your understable bombers become liabilities, this is the swap.

🎯

Straight at Speed

With 0 turn and only 2 fade, the Captain's Thrasher flies remarkably straight for a 12-speed. Full-power throws hold the release line longer than most distance drivers before a controlled, forward-pushing finish. Point-and-shoot distance.

🤚

Forehand Friendly

The stable profile absorbs sidearm torque cleanly. Forehand players get long, straight lines with a dependable finish instead of early flips. It's an excellent choice for power forehands and controlled flex shots at distance-driver speed.

🏆

Missy Gannon's Annual Release

The Captain's Thrasher is a special annual release codesigned by Team Discraft Co-Captain Missy Gannon — one of the most decorated FPO players in the game. Each year's run features unique stamps and premium plastic. Part performance disc, part collector's piece.

📐

Controlled Flex Lines

Put the Captain's Thrasher on anhyzer and it holds the angle before the 2 fade brings it home. The flex window is wide and forgiving — less violent than a big-fade meathook, more reliable than an understable driver that might not come back.

Frequently Asked Questions

The turn. The original Thrasher (12/5/-3/2) is an understable bomber that flips up for easy distance. The Captain's Thrasher (12/5/0/2) was retooled at Missy Gannon's request to remove the turn entirely while keeping the same glide, rim, and hand feel. The result flies straight where the original turns — better in wind, more predictable at high power, less accessible for slow arms.
Players who love the Thrasher's feel but have outgrown its understability — or who need a wind-stable version for gusty rounds. It's also a natural fit for FPO players and intermediate arms who want a straight-flying 12-speed that won't flip, since the 2 fade is gentler than typical overstable distance drivers.
More than the original Thrasher. With 0 turn, you'll want 330+ feet of power to keep the Captain's Thrasher from fading early. Below that, it flies straight-to-overstable with a shorter flight. The good news: the modest 2 fade means even underpowered throws finish gently instead of dumping hard left.
That's exactly why it exists. Missy Gannon wanted a Thrasher she could trust in windy tournament conditions. The 0 turn handles headwinds that would flip the original, and the moderate fade keeps the finish predictable in crosswinds. It's not a meathook — for extreme wind, reach for a Force or Nuke OS — but for everyday breezy rounds, it's reliable.
Both are 12-speed, 0-turn drivers, but the Force (12/5/0/3) has a full point more fade — it finishes harder left and handles stronger wind. The Captain's Thrasher (12/5/0/2) flies straighter with a gentler finish, making it better for holding lines and squeezing out distance. Many players bag both: Captain's Thrasher for straight bombs, Force for overstable utility.
No — it's a special annual release. Discraft drops a new Captain's Thrasher run each year with updated Missy Gannon stamp art, and when a run sells out, that's typically it until the next cycle. First Run editions tend to move fastest. If you find one you like, don't wait.
It's not the ideal first distance driver — the 0 turn needs real arm speed to fly full flights, and beginners will see it fade out early. New players are better served by the original Thrasher (12/5/-3/2) or the Hades, whose understability compensates for developing power. Come back to the Captain's version once you're throwing 330+.
