Flight Numbers

11Speed
6Glide
-2Turn
2Fade

Discraft's glide-first distance driver. The Scorch combines speed 11 with the highest glide in its class, producing long, sweeping S-curves that make distance feel effortless. Think of it as a longer Discraft Heat or a more workable Avenger SS — it fills the gap between fairway drivers and true bombers.

Why Throw the Scorch?

🪁

Glide of 6 at Speed 11

A glide rating of 6 is rare at distance driver speeds. The Scorch stays in the air longer than almost anything at speed 11, adding free distance without extra arm speed. Players consistently report the Scorch flying farther than its speed class suggests.

🔄

Textbook S-Curves

Release on hyzer and the Scorch stands up, drifts slightly right, then comes back left with a reliable 2 fade. The result is a clean, full-flight S-curve that covers max distance. Beginners get this flight shape naturally — no advanced technique required.

🏌️

Distance for Developing Arms

Intermediate players who can't power a Destroyer or Nuke often find the Scorch is their longest-flying disc. The understable turn and massive glide compensate for lower arm speed, producing real distance that overstable drivers can't match at moderate power.

➡️

Controlled Turnovers

Release flat or on gentle anhyzer and the Scorch pans right in a long, sweeping arc. It holds turnover angles beautifully and the 2 fade provides enough correction to keep it in play. More controlled than a Hades, less extreme than an Orbital.

💨

Tailwind Bomber

The glide and understable turn make the Scorch a natural tailwind disc. Throw it downwind and it rides forever — the wind feeds the glide and the turn keeps it tracking forward instead of fading out. One of the best tailwind distance drivers available.

🌲

Hyzer-Flip Through the Woods

The Scorch's domey profile and -2 turn make it an excellent hyzer-flip disc for wooded fairways. Start on hyzer, let it flip to flat, and ride the glide through a tunnel. It finishes with enough fade to stay on the fairway without drifting right.

Popular

ESP

Premium • Grippy • Swirly Colors

Discraft's signature premium blend with excellent grip and attractive swirls. ESP Scorches fly true to the 11/6/-2/2 numbers and season slowly for a long, reliable lifespan. The default choice for most players — grippy in all conditions.

Z Line

Premium • Durable • Slightly More Stable

Stiff, translucent, and built for maximum durability. Z Scorches hold their stability longer than ESP and resist early turn. The pick if you want the Scorch's glide without it getting too flippy over time.

Big Z

Premium • Gummy Feel • Bold Stamps

A softer Z blend with oversized artwork and a slightly gummier feel. Big Z Scorches offer comfortable grip with premium durability. Flight sits between ESP and stock Z in stability.

Titanium

Premium • Solid Feel • Ultra-Premium

Discraft's top-tier premium blend with outstanding grip and long-lasting flight. Titanium Scorches resist wear and maintain a predictable flight. A premium option for players who want the best feel and consistency.

Z Swirl Tour Series

Tour Series • Swirly Z • Limited Runs

Special tour series runs in swirly Z plastic with enhanced grip and unique stamp art. Z Swirl Scorches tend to fly slightly more stable than stock Z with a premium, collectible look. Grab them when they drop.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Scorch is essentially a faster Heat. The Heat (9/6/-3/1) is a speed-9 glide monster with -3 turn. The Scorch (11/6/-2/2) bumps the speed to 11 with slightly less turn and more fade. Players who love the Heat's glide and want more distance often graduate to the Scorch. The rim is wider but the flight philosophy is the same — glide-first, understable, S-curves for days.
The understable turn and massive glide make the Scorch accessible starting around 275–300 feet of power. It won't demand 350+ foot arms to get a full flight. Many intermediate players report the Scorch as their farthest-flying disc. If you can throw a Heat or Leopard well, you can step up to the Scorch.
The Hades (12/6/-3/2) is one speed faster with one more point of turn. It's flippier and more aggressive on turnovers. The Scorch (11/6/-2/2) is more controlled — the -2 turn is workable without being wild, and the 2 fade brings it back reliably. Choose the Scorch for controlled S-curves and hyzer-flips; the Hades for maximum flip and more extreme turnover lines.
ESP is the best all-around starting point — grippy, durable, and flies true to the numbers. If you want the Scorch to stay stable slightly longer, Z Line is a good choice since the stiffer plastic resists early turn. Avoid Titanium and Tour Series for now — they're premium options that don't add anything a beginner needs.
Light headwinds are manageable — the 2 fade helps the Scorch finish even when the wind pushes it right. Strong headwinds will flip it over though. The Scorch is best in calm air, tailwinds, and light crosswinds. For serious headwind shots at this speed, reach for the Defy (11/5/-1/3) or Sergeant (11/4/0/2.5).
Yes, especially beaten-in ESP runs. The -2 turn and high glide put the Scorch on edge with moderate effort, and the 11-speed rim gives it solid ground speed for long rollers. Advanced players use seasoned Scorches for distance rollers that cover 350+ feet on the ground.
The Scorch fills the understable 11-speed slot between fairway drivers and true 12–13 speed bombers. Below it: the Heat (9/6/-3/1) covers understable fairway distance. Above it: the Hades (12/6/-3/2) and Ares (12/6/-1/2) step up to 12-speed. Think of the Scorch as the bridge — faster than a fairway, easier than a bomber, glidier than both.
